If you’re spending the weekend enjoying your own company or some downtime, it’s the perfect time to indulge yourself with some simple sweet treats. You don’t even need to leave home! There are many delicious desserts with only a few common ingredients most people always have in their pantry.
Fruit and Cream Cheese Babkas
This super simple dessert requires pie filling, cream cheese, and crescent rolls. Unroll the crescent rolls and spread liberally with cream cheese. Top with a dollop of pie filling, reserving about ¼ for the final step.
Roll the dough into a tube shape and slice down the middle with a sharp knife. Twist the two halves together into a spiral. Arrange into the shape of a circle in a cake pan or cast-iron skillet. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Top with remaining pie filling and serve hot.
Peanut Butter Cookies
Fancy cookies don’t have to be hard to make. These dainty peanut butter rounds consist of just a cup of peanut butter, a cup of sugar, and one egg.
Mix it all up and add a little vanilla if you prefer. Drop one rounded teaspoon at a time on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Frozen Fruit Treats
These scrumptious frozen treats are easily whipped up with whatever fruit you have around the house and a little juice or water. The hard part is keeping yourself from eating them all in one sitting.
Chop up enough apples, pineapple, grapes, and any other fruit you have in your kitchen to feed your party. Place equal amounts in a few plastic zip-close sandwich baggies. For extra sweet popsicles, add ¼ to 1/8 cup of any kind of juice. You can also use a teaspoon of sugar and ¼ cup water.
Seal the bags tightly, shake well, and freeze. Once frozen, pop out of the bag and mix in a blender. Drink it like a smoothie or eat it with a spoon.
